Three little words: renovated carriage barn. That’s basically all I need to say to get you excited about this place, right?

Let’s take a quick step back first, though. This little baby was constructed in the late 1800s as a carriage house for the stately home at 4669 Hamilton Avenue. Over the years, it’s undergone a handful of renovations — lowering the ceilings, dividing the building in half, even being made into a doctor’s office. Then, it sat abandoned for a few years until it underwent a complete restoration by local architect Tim Jeckering.

And goodness gracious (great balls of fire), I’m here to say he did a heckuva job.

Tucked alongside a picturesque street in Northside, this place is the epitome of unique. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with gorgeous oak hardwood floors, and the character doesn’t stop there. This place has modern touches aplenty: luxurious bathrooms, stone countertops in the kitchen, stainless steel appliances, walk-in closets, even LED lighting in most of the house.

But what really gets me are the historic details. The master bath and laundry room boast repurposed barn wood from the original structure. In the kitchen, you’ll find a slab of beautiful salvaged wood, creating an urban farmhouse chic — that’s a thing, right? — island.

Basically, everywhere you look there’s something noteworthy to totally gush over.

Additional details:

  • Bedrooms: 3
  • Bathrooms: 2 full
  • Square Feet: 1,500
  • Price: $359,000

Whoever snatches up this gem is signing up for a heckuva a lot of hosting. Seriously, do you see that kitchen? That island is just begging for a charcuterie platter and some chatter going on around it. Give the photo gallery a browse to see it all for yourself.
